The naming for apples headphones and earphones according to Jon Prossor is quite simple: Air means wireless Pod means music devices aka homePODs, so pod dont necessarily mean earpods Max means its the best or biggest model Thus the naming of airpods max now kinda makes sense

Linus said Intel needs to put engineers back in charge but failed to mention that the vast majority of the Vice Presidents at Intel are engineers. Even the chairman of the board, Omar Ishrak (former CEO of Medtronic) who Linus mentioned explicitly, is also an engineer. Sure their CEO is not an Engineer but almost everyone else in a leadership position is. I really hope this is an honest mistake that Linus corrects in the future.

The difference between nintendo making a new console that takes a drastic change and apple is the amount of money lost if it's a flop. Nintendo maxes out at like 100 million consoles over 7 years. Iphones sell like 40 million + a year at 700-1300$. Apple is unwilling to risk losing big sales on an iphone. They will add an iphone to the lineup, much lower risk.

Hope Linus sees this but "Airpods Max" does follow apple naming scheme quite accurately. When apple uses the term "Air" in the beginning of a product name, it indicates wireless eg: airpods, airdrop, airtags, etc. "Pod" is apples term for music listening eg: ipod, earpods, airpods, homepod, etc. so "AirPods Max" actually makes a lot of sense. (though "Max" is kinda lame, it does follow their trend of naming bigger things "Max")
