It's crazy. I wanted to get a Xbox series x after Xmas because I spent what I had on my kids gifts. And now they are all out of stock and scalpers are doubling the price is most cases so I said screw it I'm building a PC and now for 3 days I've been complaining to my wife how the GPU's are being scalped the same way. I've got $1000 and can't build half the computer I would be able to if it wasn't for all these greedy people marking prices up

Why are graphics cards not modular? Add some vram, replace the processor every few years (Like with a CPU Socket) Is there an actual reason to this or is it just calculated obsolescence?

I managed to get a 3070 today from Scan.co.uk (it is possible to get 30 series cards just very hard). I also reccommend ebay and twitter (to stay updated when new stock comes out).

I'm glad to hear for 999.00 the 3080 ti is coming out and all the dummies will have to choke on their overpriced cards. It's people who pay those premiums that hike the prices up for all of us. There are auctions on ebay in lines with people still buying 600.00 dollar cards for 1300.00. Get a grip people. In a few months your investment is trash. You'll still be paying for the thing and a better card will be less then what you owe. Plus your gonna pay interest on that 1300.00. We'll say in the tone of about 700.00 if you make minimum payments. That's 2000.00 dollars for a 600.00 dollar card. I seriously don't blame the scalper completely. I put it on dummies that maxed out their credit cards for a few fps that they don't even need. I for one will wait it out and upgrade when it makes sense. There is no market for building a responsible PC today. As nice as it would be to 4k gaming; the majority of us are on 27-34 inch monitors. It really doesn't make sense to have 4k on that setup to me. Come on guys!!!

I want to buy the AMD rysen 9, 3900x and a b550 tomahawk mobo with 16gb of ddr4 memory, then use my old gtx970 gpu and 2x ssd ( 1tb ) and have a good base computer while I am saving up some money for a good videocard, its mainly for vr ( oculus rift S ) currently got alot of stability issues due to having a very old mobo/cpu, but maybe I am going for the Asus TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI) mobo ( wifi is actually quite usefull :P and more usb 3 ports )

does anyone have any idea for a 300$ build with the minimum requirements of a 3 ghz+ quad core 8 thread cpu clock speed and 16 ram clocked at 3200 mhz on a motherboard that allows decent upgrades in the future and just a 250 gb+ cheap ass hard drive/ssd (i really dont care about boot up speeds) with a dedicated gpu (i got that done with a 1030 gt) i got the case covered as well as the psu so far if anyone knows such build please tell me about it, thank you. And this is why I bought my upgrades in April, when that sweet sweet tax return and stimulus money came in. That and I was stressing over the Cyberpunk 2077 specs - which were wrong. Now I have more computer than I need, which is really weird for me. I am usually 2 to 3 generations behind, but now my system would be considered merely inadequate! (grin)

*slaps the top of his RX580 "This baby still has a few years of mileage in her" Jokes aside though. i'm browsing for a new card and with the taxes here the price discrepancy between the 3060ti and 3070 really isn't worth the 5~7% performance increase. 3060ti is around ~800USD while 3070 is 1070$ when converted (prices are normally this high because of import taxes and VAT so no surprise).
