The funniest part about this is if you wanted to actually build this now, you’ve got at least a grand in the case, about 3.5 grand for the motherboard, another 3 grand for the cpu, another 1800 on ram, about 6-7k for the storage, at least 1-2k on psu and cables, another 3k for the gpus, 2-3k for the watercooling, and a gallon of sweat and tears.

I guess if you guys had just set a goal of beating the $6000 Mac Pro with a $6000 Hack Pro, this project would have been a lot easier.

Why would you want to waste your money on a mac. It's a brick compared to the computer you'd get if you went windows. Also pineapple doesnt go in pizza. As soon as pineapple touches pizza it is not pizza anymore😂

I built a Hackintosh a few years ago, and ended up just running Linux on it. It's a sweet workstation, but I just gave up on Apple with their terrible software and hardware decisions and macOS just keeps getting worse anyway. My advice to everybody considering a Hackintosh today is just build a great Linux computer instead. My next build will be intended as a Linux machine from the start, which will allow for much better hardware choices anyway (in some cases, much much better). Unless you absolutely must use some Apple software for some bizarre reason (and please try some alternatives before you make that decision), Linux is better than a Mac in nearly every respect. These days, I think everyone should at least spin up a Linux VM and give it a try and serious consideration. Both Apple and Microsoft have lost the plot, and it's time to stop giving money to both companies.

So a Hackintosh with a refurbished motherboard, stock fans, and no custom fan curve doesn't OC very high and is noisier than a Mac? I'm glad you were honest about the difficulties, but it made for an interesting comparison video.

This comparison of building a better Mac than Apple is twisted, I work on similar stuff and sure my home custom rig is epic but the things we do at work aren’t that straight forward. U just can’t be like look we build better than them, in ur custom rig u can choose whatever u want and u can build it after u hv seen all the choices, in the companies we hv deals in place with other companies and we can just use their products, there r cost caps for materials and a lot of things r created and thought about way in advanced before actually creating it as we hv lots of units to ship, it’s not like ur personal setup when u wait for everything the choose the best value for money items and set up a rig. Creating custom rigs n all is epic, I love such videos but to then start comparing this to the hard work of people who actually design and create the stuff is just plain wrong. People get to choose and create their custom rigs and stuff is Coz there r lots of engineers like me in different companies who work hard for creating all these products and try to do,Pete with other companies, sometimes we Win sometimes we loose, people see a new technology and take it for granted but they don’t realise this that how much time did it take to think about that and actually create the thing, R&D is actual hard work and innovation and not just sometimes that u see 2-3 launch events and products n pick n choose. Even my son can do this and build a kickass rig.

Dude, that's literally the exact wallet I carry every day, the Fantom Wallet R in carbon fiber with the blue money clip. I can't believe they finally started sponsoring people to make advertisements, they should have been doing that for the last 2 years at least. All I ever see is the ridge wallet, which is a piece of shit compared to the Fantom Wallet R. I really hope to see them sponsor more videos.

Problems with recognition of device as Apple? Did you try to change MAC address on Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth etc. to be equal to Apple MAC address range? If you run on Linux 'macchanger' command in terminal, it has special option which will display different manufacturers MAC ranges. There is Apple MAC address range too listed. www.google.com/search?q=macchanger+kali+linux+command

This video just feels kinda empty, like you put very little effort into the video compared to usually, kinda quiet, the humor fell more flat than usually, and it kinda felt like a bummer when we waited a year for this and on top of the video being kinda flat the "but we didn't bother" with one of the main promises kinda sucks too, love you guys but this video, compared to your usual ones, sucks, awesome build tho video doesnt do this project justice

iMessage works on my build. And mine runs Ryzen. But if you guys can’t get it working I’m sure there’s not a whole lot you can do. I just suggest scouring the forums across google. Only issues I really have with mine (running Mojave still) is my audio interface crackles and certain programs don’t have any code added for amd capability. Like Adobe, you have to run a “script” to get Adobe to run properly. I am eyeballing those new M1 Mac mini’s though. I’ve always like the form factor

My “i9-7940x Vega64 upgraded 2008 Mac Pro” is actually the most stable Mac I’ve had in 20 years. Sure it was a real fickle to get running and a real challenge to squeeze in the case but I learned a lot and cost a less than a third of an equivalent 2019 Mac Pro. Due to being a Soundblade user with old but stellar quality Apogee audio hardware I’m stuck at Mojave anyway. No Big Sur(veilance) for me thank you very much Tim Crook.

Me who has a perfectly working hackintosh and works with everything a real Mac does: :0
Nuno Carreira19 days ago
I don't understand this as a relevant argument - I'm running an i9 hackintosh with an RX580. It's still faster than any equivalent iMac. I'm not trying to compete with a Mac Pro - I"m trying to get good performance in a build that apple doesn't offer. If Apple made, say, an i9 mac mini or even Mac Pro, then it's the price point that I wouldn't need a hackintosh for. Also, yes M1 is impressive, but until it supports a dedicated GPU, there's still no reason as a designer that I would make the switch. If apple makes it's own GPU as well as AMD/Nvidia, or they get drivers from AMD, then I'm all in. There's also this: M1 = no bootcamp, so it's back to 2 computers again for the foreseeable future. this is also a real-world annoyance that a hackintosh addresses: reasonable MacOS on a great Windows machine: something bootcamp is always compromising on and won't even offer for a while (if ever)
Bruce Grubb19 days ago
With he M1 MacPro likely coming down the pipe in the next year or two what is the point of this? The MacMini is beating the pants off of everything but the most expanded MacPro and the only thing preventing Microsoft's own ARM Windows is their licensing not hardware.

Their is a program called sosueme that allows you to easily make a Mac OS VM in Linux. Yes it is actually called so-sue-me. So while building a dedicated hackintosh is kinda stupid especially with the end days of X86 Macs approaching fast, building a free VM on standard PC hardware, with only a GPU and your integrated graphics needed for it to work.
